PDMA KP Hosts First Two-Day DRR & Climate Change Adaptation Expo; The Provincial Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation & Settlement, Mr. Aqib Ullah Khan Inaugurates Event

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully organized a two-day Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Expo (DRR/CCA-EXPO25) in Peshawar. The event brought together major humanitarian organizations, national and international development partners, and relevant government and non-government institutions on a single platform. This landmark event was the first DRR and climate change–related expo in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, showcasing preparedness, response, recovery, and planning initiatives across various sectors. A large number of local and international NGOs, humanitarian organizations, district administrations, and provincial departments participated, setting up stalls that displayed disaster management systems, preparedness plans, community-based mitigation measures, search-and-rescue capabilities, and climate adaptation initiatives. The Provincial Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation & Settlement, Mr. Aqib Ullah Khan, participated as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the expo. He appreciated PDMA’s efforts in bringing all partners together on one platform and praised the preparedness and response models presented by participating organizations. The Relief Minister visited all stalls and received briefings on institutional preparedness, response strategies, relief capacities, and equipment used in the field. PDMA’s Director Disaster Risk Management (DRM), the Director General Rescue 1122, the Deputy Director Civil Defence, and other senior officials also addressed the participants. The speakers emphasized the need for integrated planning, capacity enhancement, community awareness, and strengthening of resources to reduce disaster risks in the province. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional structures, improving emergency response systems, and enhancing efforts in line with provincial and national policies. The expo served as a platform where stakeholders showcased innovations, shared best practices, and strengthened their collective commitment to building a safer and more disaster-resilient Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed gratitude to all national and international partners for their valuable support and reaffirmed its commitment to leading disaster risk reduction efforts for a better and sustainable future.
